It’s National Library Week!

We are excited to be celebrating National Library Week this week with all libraries across America. Your library can help you and your family discover a new and exciting world through our collections, digital resources and more. Whether you come for job searching, help with sources for homework, adult education classes, or to find the best books for reading, your library is a great place to spend quality time and connect with loved ones and friends.

Special activities and events scheduled for this week are as follows:

The library will waive fines for all overdue materials returned during this week.
Zoe Pride will begin teaching computer classes at the library twice weekly beginning April 16.
We welcome our new Library North manager, Karen White. Karen comes to us from Obion County. She previously worked with Obion County Public Library and Paul Meeks Library at UT Martin.
We will be giving away two gift cards to two lucky winners at the end of the week: $25 to Books-A-Million and $25 to Amazon.com. You may register each time you visit the library during National Library Week.

New Day for Library

The Library is now officially back in the hands of local management. Plans are already being made to move the library forward in a big way. Remodeling includes rearranging the interior layout to be patron accessible, re-establishing the reference department, expanding and updating the children’s area, and providing improved customer service. We are already beefing up our social media presence by adding Pinterest boards, a new twitter account for the Director, and the Director’s blog.

We look forward to seeing you as you connect with information, literacy, and other people here at the library!

Main and Library North will both be closed next Wednesday for the 4th of July holiday!

JULY SUMMER READING PROGRAM!!

The Summer Reading events schedule for July is now set!

We’ll be having special guests – Traveler the Cairn Terrier will entertain us, a group of KenPo Karate students will perform a demonstration for us, and our own Ben Pennington will share his experiences, music, and clothing from Africa and around the world! Pick up a list of events at the library.

Then, our FINAL PARTY is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11th at 1:00 with The Groove Club! Tickets for this party are available at the Main Library now and will be at the North Branch next week as well. There are plenty of tickets and you have plenty of time to come pick some up, and they’re FREE!
