Griot Collective’s Visiting Writer’s Series at Main Library

The Griot Collective of West Tennessee presents Tim. J. Wise, May 9th at 2p.m. at the Jackson Madison County LIbrary, downtown.  Wise, an expert on race, culture, and politics, is the author of four books and will discuss his latest release: “Between Barack and a Hard Place: Race and Whiteness in the Age of Obama.”  Each May the Griot Collective invites a writer of national and international acclaim to the City of Jackson as part of its Visiting Writer’s Series.

The event, co-sponsored by Sigma Gamma Rho Sororities, V Violet Essence of Beauty and the West Tennessee Examiner, is free and open to the public.  The Jackson Madison County Library is located at 433 East Lafayette Street.  Meeting monthly from September through May, the Griot Collective is a 501(c)3 poetry workshop.  For further details, call 423-5537.
