Book Trailer Video Contest for Tweens & Teens

We all know what movie trailers are, but have you ever seen a BOOK trailer?  No?
(Then you must not have seen a blog we posted last week…)

Book trailers are like movie trailers we see on TV or in the theater, but instead of being about a movie…it promotes a book!  There are lots of great book trailers out there-check out the bottom of this post to see a couple of good ones that we found recently.

We are inviting all tweens (ages 9-12) and teens to make a book trailer as a part of this year’s Summer Reading Program–“Be Creative @ Your Library.”

You may get a group together (family, friends or both!), pick a book and put together a short (1-2 minute) book trailer and drop  by the library on a CD/DVD by June 27.

We will award a prize to the winners for two categories–Tween and Teen.  Winning teams will receive a “Wing Party” courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings.

  1. All trailers must be 1-2 minutes in length, rated G (library staff reserves the right to pull any entry that is deemed inappropriate), and turned in on a CD/DVD by June 27.
  2. Teams can be made of friends and/or family, or whomever you wish.
  3. Please mark CD/DVD with team name and contact information so we may return it to you and have a way to contact you if you win!
  4. The winning team will receive a wing party, courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings.

All entries will be uploaded to the library’s YouTube site (search JMCLibrary) the week of June 28 and be available for viewing.  Voting will begin July 4th on in the “Book Trailer Poll”.  Place your votes by July 13th!  Winners will be announced at the block party July 16th.   All videos can be viewed at in the program center during the block party.

Examples.  I think some of these are from publishing houses and are probably a bit more professional than I could ever dream could be pulled off.  (But we just may be surprised!!)
