Space Month!

Hooray!  September 2009 will be space month at the Main Library.  We’re ready to take off and explore through several fun activities!


Tuesday, September 8 10:30am, Friday September 11 9:30am & 10:30am. Space Themed Preschool Storytimes. We will be reading books about space and a fun space activity.  Ages: Preschool.

Monday September 14, 4:30pm. Space Month: UV Rays. Ever wonder why astronauts have to wear their thick space suits?  Hate putting on sunscreen?  Come to this fun activity where we learn WHAT these two things have in common!  Little Friends Room.  Ages children 6 and up.

Saturday September 26, 10am & 2pm. Space Month: ROCKETS! Let’s fly!  We will make rockets and launch them off!  (Don’t worry…we will be using antacids and water…no fireworks!).  If available, please bring an old, empty 35mm film canister (round with cap).  We will have some here, but we have to keep them after we shoot the rockets.  Registration Required, limit to 15 participants per session. Call the library at 425-8600 ext. 1 to reserve your child(ren’s) spot.  Ages children 6 and up.

Monday September 28, 6pmSpace Month: Explore! What’s out there?  We will learn a little about space exploration, and build our own space explorer using yummy materials.  Ages children 6 and up.
