The Griot Collective of West Tennessee presents it’s third annual African American Film Series October 31 from 9:30am until 5pm at the Jackson Madison Main Library, downtown.
This year’s feature films include the 1964 classic Nothing But a Man starring jazz legend Abbey Lincoln and Ivan Dixon. Richard Pryor in the 1977 release, Greased Lightening, portrays Wendall Scott, the first African American Nascar champion and what happens when an extraterrestrial crash lands in Harlem? You don’t want to miss Brother From Another Planet, a 1984 cult classic. Also, local filmmaker Cristalynne Dupree will showcase her documentary on the life and work of renowned photographer Earnest Withers.
