As I celebrate the end of my second year as Director of this great library system, I am very happy about how far we have come. People are discovering the riches that the library has to offer, and circulation is increasing by leaps and bounds. Not only do we have two locations to serve TLC (technology, literacy, and community building), but we also have a virtual branch that is booming as well.
We have recently purchased a database of over 1200 juvenile and young adult e-books and audio books which can be accessed simultaneously by anyone with a Jackson-Madison County Library Card. Go to the databases link on our website and scroll down to “One Click Digital.” If you need any assistance, please give us a call, and someone will be glad to help you.
During January, we will be offering classes on how to read e-books on your Apple and Android devices. Call the library for times and locations. On Saturday, January 10, our reference librarian will also be teaching a session on “Keeping that Resolution: Apps to help you on your way.”
Our children’s librarian will be holding her regular programming for the kids in January: story times at the Main library on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30, story times at our North Branch on Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:00, and Library Club at 2 PM on Fridays.
Our community game days are becoming a big hit. Once a month, we schedule a time for about two hours when our program center is opened to the public. This month it will be on Wednesday, January 21 from 2:00-4:00 PM. We will have board and card games available, and light refreshments will be served. Please join us for this time of community building.
As always, please let us know if there is a specific book you would like to read, class you would like to have taught at the library, or service we might be able to add. We are here to serve you!
